Orange County, California: In 2006, Nicole Catsouras, 18-years-old, died a horrific death in a violent car accident when she was driving her father's Porsche at high speeds and crashed into a toll booth. Law enforcement who responded to the scene took photographs of her body. Sometime later, these gruesome photos were leaked by some of the police and made their rounds across the internet. Nicole's parents sued the California Highway Patrol and the two dispatch supervisors for infliction of emotional distress. After protracted litgation, her parents settled with the defendants for over $2 million.
